The other day, I was at the gym and I didn't feel like planning a workout. I didn't want to think about it or be creative. This is unusual for me, but on this day... I just wanted a good, hard workout without the planning.
So, I thought.... what's the toughest leg exercise?? I personally think squats are one of the top! They kill the booty, thighs & hammies. There are so many variations, too. And that's what I went with....
My leg workout hit the spot! I was sore in all the right places. I started with a 1 mile run - going as fast as possible. Then I did 10 sets of 10 reps of squats, switching from wide-stance to narrow-stance...(when your legs are further apart - wider than shoulder width - you'll work your hamstrings more. A narrow stance - about shoulder width - targets your quads. Both get your butt, too). The key to getting the most out of a squat, is driving with your heels. As you press up, focus on pushing thru your heels to really activate your buns. I even lift my toes for extra squeeze.
Find a weight that's challenging, but allows you to get in 10 reps. If you need to drop the weight as you go on, that's fine! Just be sure to get in 10 sets of 10. In between your sets, superset another body part like shoulders or abs. I typically do shoulders & legs together, but abs are another great mix-in. Aim for 20 crunches (any form) in between each squat set, this will give you 200 crunches!! Finish the booty burner with 8-10 minutes of incline walking - try an incline of 8 or more.
Good Luck!! Let me know how you do ;-)
