The freezing temps here in Salt Lake mean no more running outside for me. It's a bummer cause I like to get in one or two good cardio sessions a week, but I refuse to freeze my buns off!! I'm a firm believer that weight training/plyometric/high intensity resisitance training are the best workouts, which can easily be done inside and with little or no equipment... but still, I just like the feeling of a cardio session... so, that brings me to my Best Stair Workout ever. All you need is some stairs. I used our home stairs - there are 14. You can use a stadium, an office building's stairs or some random stairs you might find around your neighbor (you'll be surprised, they are everywhere when you look).
Here's the great workout I did. It took 10 minutes and then I did some resistance training, but this workout alone is enough to call it a day....
BEST STAIR WORKOUT
- Stair runs: Do regular runs hitting every step, 10 times up and down
- Stair hops: Hop up two stairs at a time and slowly come back down, 5 times
- Every other step runs: Run up the stairs, skipping one step each time, 10 times up (regular on the down)
**REPEAT!! You will do each cycle 2 times.
