Strawberry Banana Steel-Cut Oats

As promised, I have another amazing slow-cooker oatmeal recipe for you... Strawberry Banana Steel Cut Oats.

At first, I wasn't sure how cooked banana and strawberries would taste. I was worried the bananas would be yucky and brown, but then I thought about banana bread... YUM! As the craving for banana bread grew, I got to work on this breakfast. The addition of strawberries made it even better. The berries gave it a tiny tang and extra sweeteness. By cooking the banana in the oats for several (6-8) hours, the whole dish becomes sweet. I didn't add any honey or agave while cooking, but you certainly can. Add whatever you want. Here's the basic recipe...

STRAWBERRY BANANA STEEL-CUT OATMEAL
Makes 8 servings
What you need:
2C steel cut oats
2C water
3C unsweetened vanilla or chocoalte almond milk (you can use soy, coconut or regular milk)
2TBSP vanilla extract
1/2C crushed walnuts (optional)

How to:
Add all ingredients to crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Enjoy with additional fresh berries, honey or other sweetener (Stevia or agave) & a splash of milk of choice.
